XAT is Xavier Aptitude Test which is a national level aptitude test and is conducted by XLRI, known as Xavier Labour Relations Institute, a business school in Jamshedpur in the state of Jharkhand, on behalf of Xavier Association of Management Institute (XAMI), for admissions in the management courses in the institutes all over the country. XLRI, is the one of the oldest b-schools in India, founded in 1949, has a prosperous history extending more than 60 years contributing excellence in leadership and management expertise to the corporate world. It is a three-hour test which is divided into two parts. The first part consists of multiple-choice questions on data interpretation and quantitative ability, analytical reasoning and decision making ability and verbal and logical ability. The time allotted for this is 2 hours 20 minutes. The second part is lately introduced 40 minutes exam section which includes essay writing and general awareness.

Apart from XLRI, other top B-schools in the country that accepts XAT results, includes Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai; Xavier Institute Of Management & Entrepreneurship, Bangalore; Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar; Goa Institute of Management; Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi; Institute for Financial Management and Research, Chennai; SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai; Globsyn Business School, Kolkata and Xavier Institute of Social Science, Ranchi.

The online applications for the entrance exam for XAT are conducted from the middle of September to the end of November. The test is conducted next year on the month of January.

Eligibility:

A candidate must be graduate in any discipline minimum 50 % from a recognized university or deemed university. A candidate appearing for final year of bachelor's degree or awaiting for results can also apply.

40 General Awareness questions were asked. Candidates have to attempt the essay as well as General Awareness questions.


How to apply

•  For online registration, candidate must visit to the official website www.xlri.edu/ and tap on the XAT Registration bar. The page of registration form opens up in which he or she must fill up the registration form. The details to be filled up comprises of personal details, educational details, work experience, the nearest Axis Bank branch name from where he or she wants to purchase the XAT Bulletin etc.

•  After submitting the form successfully the candidate will get a generated ID and password. The id and password should be retained for future reference with XAT office, downloading Admit card and other alteration at official website.

•  The candidates should download the XAT Pay-in-slip. The pay-in-slip consists of date of registration, names of Axis Bank branch, ID, Pay-in-slip No, name of the candidate, address and phone number imprinted on it. The pay-in slip consists of three parts. All the three parts of the pay-in-slip should be taken to the Axis Bank branch.

•  On presenting the pay-in-slip and Bulletin form amount the Bulletin number, date of purchase and Bank Tran ID will be issued by the bank and a bank seal will be put on each part of the pay-in-slip. The bank will retain their copy and return the rest of the pay-in-slip.

•  Candidates should go through the Bulletin carefully before filling up the form. After reading candidate must fill up the detachable form with required information as done previously during filling up online form. A passport size color photograph must be affixed and signature must be given in the space provided .

•  Then, the XLRI's copy of the pay-in-slip should be attached in the space provided on the form. The candidate must retain his or her copy of the pay-in-slip is to be carefully for future reference, if any.

•  The candidate must carefully separate the form from the Bulletin and send the form through courier or registered post or speed post in the special envelop given inside the bulletin to the correspondence Office, Jamshedpur. This form should reach within seven days from the date of purchase of the bulletin to the following address of the XAT Office, XLRI , and Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur-831001

•  For downloading the Admit Card, the candidate must visit the website www.xlri.edu/
