Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is known as verbal and quantitative reasoning test that is conducted for the college admission in United States of America. The SAT exam is conducted and published by the College Board of US but formally developed, conducted and published by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The candidates who are seeking admission in the undergraduate courses in US universities can go through the SAT competitive exam.

This Reasoning test is administered by the College Board of USA and is conducted for measuring the critical thinking skills that is needed for the academic success. SAT assess is for testing the analyzing and solving problems.

Eligibility Criteria for SAT

The candidates must need to complete their 10+2 from the recognized institute.


The content and format of the SAT educational standards and practices:

  • The Critical Reading is emphasized on the reading and assesses the student's ability in drawing inferences, synthesize information, distinguishing between main and supporting ideas, and vocabulary understanding as it is used in context.
  • The Mathematical section requires a application of mathematical concepts and to use of data literacy skills that is interpreting tables, charts, and graphs
  • The writing section includes both the multiple choice questions and deals with the mechanics of writing such as writing of essay.

How to register for the SAT

You can register for the SAT exam from the US College Board website: . It is the simplest and fastest way to register for this exam. This website contains all the necessary information regarding which you can sit in Victoria as well as information regarding the registration and deadlines. Fee Structure

  • Fee for General Test is Rs. 4200
  • Fee for Subject Test is Rs. 3500

There are two types of SAT exams: 

  • SAT General Test/ SAT-I
    This general test is conducted for 3 hours and 45 minutes which includes three sections of multiple choice questions:
    • Writing:  The writing test section is for assessing candidate's knowledge about grammar, usage and word choice. 
    • Reading: This test is for the candidate's capability test in sentence completion, paragraph reading and reading comprehension.
    • Mathematics:  This test includes a Basic Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Probability, Statistics and Data Analysis.
  • SAT Subject Test (Optional)/ SAT -II
    Some Universities or Colleges requires or recommends SAT subject Test score with admission application form. It is a subject test which is an optional test but it provides an additional opportunity for the candidates who want to show their capabilities and knowledge about particular subject to apply in the universities and colleges. This test is very important if a candidate is applying for any specific subject.

    The SAT II : is the conducted for an hour with multiple choice questions. Candidates are required to select three subjects for per sitting from the list of 20 subjects such as Chemistry, German Reading, Mathematics, Literature, Physics, Spanish Listening, World History, French, Social Studies, etc.

SAT results

The applicants are required to have all sections of SAT that contains Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. The SAT results need not have more than two years of old in order to consider for the admission purpose.
