Career Options For Science Student After Scoring between 60% to 80%
As soon as your marks in board exams comes out a competition starts for getting good institutions and make a good career. If your expectation in 12 th in between 60% to 80% then you can opt for the following courses in your undergraduate level:
B. Sc (Hons): If you are keen in pursuing a career in academics, B. Sc (Hons) in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology or Botany will help you do that. Most of the Indian universities offer B. Sc (Hons) to students who have passed 10+2 /intermediate/higher secondary with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology or Computer Science.
Scope: You can further increase your prospects by doing a Masters degree and then moving on to research and working as a junior research fellow in any reputed research institute. You can also pursue a career as a lecturer in any university or get jobs in chemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, or in government organizations like ONGC, HAL, NTPC, etc….
B. Sc Anthropology: anthropology deals with the study of socio-cultural progress of humans. It is a very interesting subject and after pursuing B.Sc in this subject you can further go for post graduation in this subject or else you can work as tour guide, curator, culture resource manager and urban planner. Apart from this you can also join international organizations such as WHO, UNESCO and UNICEF.
Eligibility: You should have passed 12 th with Biology as one of your primary subjects.
BA / BSc Economics: A BA or B. Sc Economics is one of the well-paid degrees in India today. While most of the colleges across India offer a Bachelors degree in Economics, some give a BA degree, some offer a BSc degree. Universities like the University of Delhi offer a BA degree while others like the University of Mumbai and the University of Calcutta offers a BSc degree. A degree in Economics can open up opportunity in investment firms, public sector undertakings, government enterprises and NGOs.
Eligibility: 12 th passed with English and mathematics as primary subjects.
BSc Applied Physical Sciences : You can opt for Bachelors in Applied Sciences with specialism either in Computer Science, Environmental Science, Electronics or Industrial Chemistry if you have a science background at the 12 th level. You can pursue higher studies to find placement opportunities in software or hardware industries. Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) : if your interests in computer applications are immense then BCA will be the right choice for you. It is a degree course of three year concentrating primarily on programming languages. You can further increase the prospects of your career and do a MCA after your BCA to be equivalent with B. Tech degree holders. After doing this you can join firms such as WIPRO, TCS, INFOTECH and many more.
Eligibility: 12 th passed with English and Mathematics as basic subjects. Some colleges even conduct entrance test to get admission in their college.
B.Sc. (H) Computer Science: As a student of science you can also go in for BSc in Computer Science. Moreover your chances of placement increase by taking up a higher degree (MSc in Computer Science) which would open various opportunities in the banks, IT sector and research
Eligibility : 12 th passed with 60% marks in Mathematics and a 55% marks in aggregate including mathematics.
Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA): Even if you have come from the science stream, you can do make your career in BBA, if you have English and Mathematics as core subjects. It is a degree course of three year designed to impart management education.
Eligibility: 12 th passed candidates can apply and they should have English and Mathematics as primary subjects with at least 50% aggregate.
BA English: If you have knack for English literature were thinking of coming back to English then this is another good choice for you. A degree in English will open up doors of lecturer, teacher and even journalist.
Eligibility: 12 th passed from any stream.
Mass Communication/Journalism: If writing have been a talent and boon to you and if you don't want to go with science any further, then a course in mass communication would be the right choice for you. A degree in mass communication from any reputed institute will help you to build a good career. You can obtain specialism in advertising, television or journalism. You can work as a copyeditor, reporter, editor, journalist or producer. Some institutes organize admission test for admission in Mass Communication programs.
Eligibility: 12 th passed from any stream.
B. Tech/BE: After 12 th most students go for engineering . If you have achieved between 60% and 80% marks in your 12 th , then engineering is another option for you. For this, engineering entrance exams are conducted at state and national level which you can give to get admission in B. Tech programs. Entrance exams at national level are- IIT-JEE, AIEEE, and NATA.
Eligibility: you should have passed 12 th with at least 50 % marks and Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics as core subjects.
B.Arch: Bachelor in Architecture is a UG course of 5 years. It deals with the designing and planning of buildings. It requires good imaginative skill and if you are good in drawing then this is a plus point for you to take up this course. Further if you do post graduation in architecture then you can be appointed as site engineer.
Eligibility: you should pass 12 th with PCM combination and should have scored at least 50% marks in 12 th .
MBBS / BDS: it is the most demanding course and also a Nobel profession. If human anatomy and life sciences were the subjects that always interested you then you can go for this course. Further obtaining a degree in field of medicine entitles you a qualified doctor. Various entrance exams are conducted for getting admissions in these courses such as- AIPMT, AFMC, AIMMS and JIPMER.

Bachelor in Ayurvedic Medicine (BAMS): pursuing knowledge in ayurvedic medicine is another option for you. It is a traditional form of medicine system which has been very popular in India and now-a-days also in abroad.

B Pharma: B. Pharma is another option for students who have passed 12th in science. B Pharma is usually a 4 years degree course and students who complete B Pharma can register themselves as pharmacist. This course deals with manufacturing, working and production of medicines. After completing this course, you can work as pharmacist, health inspector, drug therapist, drug inspector and also as production manager in pharmaceutical industry.
Eligibility: 12 th passed with at least 50 % marks in aggregate.
B.Sc Nursing: If you have ever loved serving people and taking care of them with lots of patience, then nursing is a better opportunity for you. This course instills within you the knowledge of first aid along with theoretical and practical information about treating patients. After completion of this course you can join medical colleges, health institutes and become certified nurse.
Eligibility: 12th passed with at least 50 % marks and having subject combination as PCB.
BSc Occupational Therapy (BOT): if you have a liking for machines and instruments, then BOT is another course which you can delve into. This course deals with instruments which are used by neurological, orthopedic and psychiatric patients. So, if you learn about this course it will also take you towards a Nobel profession.
Eligibility: 12th passed with at least 50% marks having subject combination of PCB.
BSc Physical Therapy (B.P.T): this course inculcates in students the knowledge of physiotherapy. After pursuing this you can work in municipal corporations, rehabilitation departments and private bodies.
